AN INTERVIEW WITH DEBORAH COONTS

Why did you make a decision to write humor?

Im now not sure I determined to add snark to the Lucky, books, mainly to Luckys own voice, it just took place that way. When I turned into a child, my mouth usually got me into problem. Finally, Ive discovered a manner to harness the sarcasm for the Forces of Good--or at the least in a manner no longer to anger my grandmother. And while Lucky began speaking to me, she had a sturdy dose of sass in her.

The Lucky OToole Vegas Adventure series is tough to categorize. Is that through layout?

When I set out to write down Wanna Get Lucky?, I knew I desired to put in writing a romp through Las Vegas. I had the characters and the placing however no real information of narrative power. So, I threw a young female out of a tour helicopter into the center of the Pirate Show and permit the story spread. A bit of murder to maintain the plot shifting, a few wisecracking and Vegas mischief to make you snigger, and a few romance to keep it exciting. A bit of a mash up, but it really works.

As the first in a sequence, Wanna Get Lucky? hits the proverbial jackpot. - Booklist

When it comes to the crunch (some thing for a sullen youngster, adverse neighbor, unbearably saintly mom-in-law), the secret is to make them snort. Deborah Coontss WANNA GET LUCKY? As a Notable Crime Novel for 2010

Deliciously raunchy, with humorous takes on sexual proclivities, Vegas glitz and love, though Agatha Christie is probably spinning in her grave. - Kirkus Reviews

Loved this book. I lived in Vegas and work a few years in gaming and was happily brought back to all the sounds, smells and fast paced life that is Vegas. I loved reading about a woman leading the way, solving problems and doings so with the respect and admiration of her staff. The story was wonderful, simple and easy to follow. I’ve just downloaded the next in the series and I’m ready to be whisked back to Vegas!

I am so happy to find a heroine that is strong, not wishy-washy, or self-degrading, or pushing others away trying to convince herself that's what she wants. Lucky at least looks at herself truthfully. Don't worry I know she's just a character in a book. It's just nice to read about someone like that. I have alot of catching up to do! Thank you!!

  • Good story!

It was a good story with many turns to the end and Luckies solution to the crime. Great descriptions of the interiors of The Babylon. To much to do with the porno stars etc., but other than that a good yarn.

Deborah Coonts does not disappoint. I started the series because it was set in Las Vegas . I was hesitant to follow Lucky to Paris, but Coonts’ writing style has captured my intellect as well as my heart. A must read for Lucky fans and a great addition to the series. Thanks Deborah!
